Zamalek goalkeeper Ahmed El-Shennawy wants to face Real Madrid in the Club World Cup at the end of this year.
The Cairo giants look to be on course to reach the final of the CAF Champions League, having crushed Wydad Casablanca 4-0 in the first leg of their semifinal this past weekend.
Winning the premier African club competition puts a team into the Club World Cup, where they will come up against some of the best club teams on the planet.
« The dream of reaching the Clubs World Cup is now close, » El-Shenawy told Egyptian television on Saturday, as quoted by Ahram Online.
« Sure, I hope to face Real Madrid in FIFA Club World Cup, » he added.
« I won one league title and two Egyptian Cups so I miss the CAF Champions League title. »
Zamalek are expected to wrap up progression to the final when they face Wydad in Morocco this Saturday.
« The players promised to win the African title as we consider the final game as a life or death mission whoever the opponent will be, » El-Shenawy said.
« I hope to achieve my dream of playing in Europe and my team’s chairman won’t mind when we receive a good offer, » the Zamalek goalkeeper concluded.
