Although the transfer window is now closed, the rumour mill is still very much in full flow. Reports today claim that both Manchester United and Chelsea may be lining up a swoop for a Liverpool star.
Italian publication ‘TuttoSport’ claims that both the ‘Red Devils’ and the ‘Blues’ are considering a move for German midfielder Emre Can.
The 23-year-old’s contract with Jurgen Klopp’s side is set to expire at the end of the season and it is thought that Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte are ready to pounce.
Juventus are also seriously considering a move for the former Bayer Leverkusen man, though Klopp is still hopeful of convincing the player to sign a new deal at Anfield.
Nevertheless, various rumours claim that the German international is unwilling to do so at this moment in time.
Juventus saw a bid for Can turned down in the summer and their general manager Beppe Marotta last month signalled the club’s intention to open discussions with the player in January when he is free to talk to foreign clubs.
‘Liverpool are holding on tight to Emre Can,’ he explained.
‘His contract expires in June. We’ll be able to negotiate with him from January.
‘We won’t hide the fact we like him, but currently he is a Liverpool player, so we can only admire him from afar.’
It seems that quite the queue is forming for Can’s signature. Where will the German be playing his football next season?
