Title chasing Hunt admits they have a tough schedule

Just after picking up valuable three points against Mamelodi Sundowns in the South African Absa Premiership, Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt believes they will have problems regarding their tight schedule.

The Clever Boys grabbed a 1-0 Absa Premiership win over fellow title challengers, Sundowns at the Bdivest Stadium on last week.

However, they will now host Orlando Pirates at the same venue on Thursday night, and coach Hunt says it is tough encounter.

“It’s not a ‘six-pointer’. It’s just the three points‚ there are five games to go‚” Hunt told reporters after the match.

“So‚ ja‚ it’s a long way. But I mean we’ve got a helluva programme. We’ve got to play on Thursday again‚ Pirates didn’t play this week.

“And then we play on Sunday again against Maritzburg United. So it’s tough. We’re losing players by about one every two or three games.

“So we’ll have to regroup tomorrow on Tuesday and start again. It’s just a step forward. It’s not a step backwards like at Loftus Versfeld as they lost to Sundowns back in February.

“I thought we were better at Loftus and we lost. But we were good here – we were playing the African champions.”

The Students occupy the top of the log table with 51 points from 25 matches and will hope to beat Kjell Jonevret’s men and remain on top.

This crucial encounter will be staged at Bidvest Stadium at 19:30 on Thursday night.
