Mamelodi Sundowns will in all probability make a number of changes to their CAF Champions League-winning squad.
The African champions dominated the continent last year, with the likes of Keagan Dolly and Hlompho Kekana playing influential roles in the team’s success
However, Pitso Mosimane will now have to look at reshuffling his CAF Champions League squad, which makes space for new additions while excluding others.
Dolly, who is on his way to finalise a move to French Ligue 1-outfit, Montpellier, will no longer be running havoc on the left flanks for Masandawana, and leaves the formidable trio of ‘CBD’ (Leonardo Castro, Khama Billiat, Dolly) one man down.
However, in the previous transfer window, Sundowns acquired the services of attacking players Sibusiso Vilakazi and Yannick Zakri, however, both were cup-tied in the Brazilians’ Champions League campaign at the time.
Ricardo Nascimento, Thapelo Morena and Anele Ngcongca are three more players who played no part in the team’s previous CAF campaign, which means Mosimane has more options in the defensive department too, alongside the likes of Wayne Arendse and Tebogo Langerman.
However, while additional signings can still be made by the club, the likes of Kekana, Arendse, Wayne Sandilands and Anthony Laffor are all in the last six months of their contracts with the Chloorkop-based outfit, and with just a week before the January transfer window shuts, it remains to be seen whether the likes of these players will still be donning the Ka Bo Yellow colours in the coming weeks.
