Mamelodi Sundowns is a team with a wealth of talented players in every position, and they are always on the lookout for more, without restrictions in transfer fees and salaries paid to their stars.
There are two overseas based South African’s who will be free agents at the end of the season both of whom will make for great additions in Thulani Serero and Steven Pienaar. Both are attacking midfielders, with the former flourishing mainly from playing behind the striker and the latter playing as a left-sided attacker.
The two, one a current international and the other a former, would represent a significant upgrade on the players already there, as the Downs reserves have arguably proved ineffective thus far when the starters have been rested. And, in case another star leaves for pastures new, they would be ready made replacements.
Both players have worked with Pitso Mosimane before at national team level and they have extensive knowledge of how to play a possession based style of football, trademarked by the Ajax academy they both attended. If a deal is done, the Brazilians will have scooped arguably two of the best attacking midfielders produced in South Africa.
