Senegal attacker Sadio Mane should have done more to avoid injuring Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson, according to Claudio Bravo.
Liverpool’s Mane was sent off in the Premier League match against City last weekend after he caught Ederson in the face in a 50-50 challenge.
The Brazilian ‘keeper was stretchered off the field and replaced by Bravo, before later reappearing with a set of stitches down the left side of his jaw.
“These things are avoidable, » said Bravo. « You can easily avoid putting your foot in somebody’s face so you don’t do them damage.
“At first I thought that he had hit him in the hip, but then I saw clearly that he got him with the face.
“You go from being on the bench watching the game and within seconds you’re out there playing. Us goalkeepers know this can happen, but you never expect it. »
Mane is set to feature for Liverpool when they face Sevilla in their opening UEFA Champions League group stage match on Wednesday evening.
