Kaizer Chiefs never cease to stun the Khosination. At the beginning of this season, about 21 players were given a boot by the powers that be at Naturena, and a handful were signed.
Now, midway through the season, Amakhosi are struggling to get maximum results on the field of play. And it also looks like that’s the case in the transfer market. There haven’t been any reported acquisitions by the Naturena-based outfit so far, with the transfer window four days away from slamming shut.
Instead, the powers that be at Amakhosi are offloading players when they’re supposed to be signing them. The surprise shipment out of Naturena is midfield man, Enocent Mkhabela. The midfielder was signed at the start of the season, but midway through, he finds himself loaned out without having played any official games for Chiefs.
We all thought the reason Mkhabela wasn’t playing was probably an injury, but the loan move suggests otherwise. This move raises alarm bells, and it could be that whoever signed the players did so on their own account. It baffles me how a coach can buy a player and then ship him out without giving him a debut?
It has always been suspected that Bobby Motaung is the one signing players, and, if that’s true, then some shuffling needs to be done. I mean, Chiefs are going through a tough time and need players of Mkhabela’s caliber, but here they are loaning them out. It’s time some heads start rolling, because this is a sign that the poor results we see in the field of play is nothing compared to management’s performances.
