Anthony Martial bagged a goal and an assist to inspire Manchester United to a 2-0 win over Watford at Old Trafford.
Martial returned to the line-up after missing out in the last two games, while Marcus Rashford dropped to the bench.
Watford created a couple chances in the opening 20 minutes, as Jose Holebas and Mauro Zarate went close with stining efforts.
However, United eventually broke the deadlock in the 37th minute as Juan Mata turned home Martial’s low cross.
Joe Mourinho’s charges nearly doubled their lead on the stroke of halftime, but Gomes produced a superb save to keep out Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s strike.
United doubled their lead in the 60th minute as Mkhitaryan played Martial through on goal and the Frenchman calmly slotted home.
Mourinho opted for a change after 73 minutes, as Maroune Fellaini replaced scorer, Juan Mata for the final 15 minutes or so.
Watford had Gomes to thank for keeping the score at 2-0, as he produced a number of fine saves in the closing stages.
Nonetheless, the score remained 2-0 at the full-time whistle, as United moved up to fifth spot temporarily.
