Manchester United look set to add former West Ham striker Idris Kanu to their academy after the forward scored twice on trial for the club’s U18s side.
The 16-year-old spent last season with West Ham is equally as comfortable in midfield as he is up front.
Nicky Butt was appointed as the head of United’s academy last February and the Red Devils have been on a recruitment drive in the last six months, bringing in the likes of Tahith Chong and Nishan Burkart.
Ex-Tottenham coach Kieran McKenna was appointed United’s U18s coach earlier this week and he oversaw a 5-1 victory against Middlesbrough during his first game in charge.
Kanu scored twice during the rout and, according to the Manchester Evening News, will sign for United’s academy.
