Komphela: Bvuma Not Far Off From Chiefs Way Of Playing

Kaizer Chiefs head coach, Steve Komphela, says that their new young goalkeeper should not be faulted for his performance last night despite conceding three goals.

Chiefs were forced to make changes in their goalkeeping department after it was confirmed that Itumeleng Khune would be unavailable for selection due to injury and with Brilliant Khuzwayo already ruled out for the season, it was a chance for Bruce Bvuma to step up for the Soweto giants.

The 21-year-old was introduced into the first-team set-up last month, March, where he made his first official debut in Amakhosi’s 3-2 loss to Cape Town City at the Cape Town Stadium last night, April 25.

Despite conceding three goals on the night, Head Coach Komphela praised the young goalkeeper for his composure and says that he is not far off from playing the Chiefs’ way.

“He did well to me. One, apart from the goals, you’re looking at him, how comfortable is he, the ease, the decision making, the communication with the defence and above all you’re saying, in line with how we play as Kaizer Chiefs, how far is he? He was not far off and the goals that were conceded, it could have happened to any keeper,” Komphela said in a post-match press conference.

“The first goal, the second goal, even the last one, you’re saying maybe defenders could have dealt with it, you never know. But yes, we conceded three but you can’t fault him, I think he came out very nicely,” he added.
