Italian pink paper Gazzetta dello Sport have an attention grabbing article on Thursday linking Inter Milan, Manchester United and Liverpool.
The starting point is the potential transfer of Ivan Perisic to Old Trafford.
Earlier this week the Independent announced that the Perisic deal should be wrapped up with the Red Devils within seven days.
On Wednesday, the Guardian have reaffirmed that timetable, claiming Perisic may be a Man United player by Tuesday.
But will Inter play hardball with United?
The Red Devils may be eager to get the Perisic deal done, but Inter are refusing to sell the Croatian international for cheap. The Telegraph have delved into the money issues, noting the gap between the parties:
United are believed to have made an improved third bid of about £40 million in the past week but remain at least £9 million short of Inter’s valuation.
One suspects Man United may have to up their offer to close the deal.
Sadio Mane & Liverpool
GdS believe that if Perisic joins Man United, Inter Milan will turn their focus towards Liverpool’s Sadio Mane.
Indeed, it’s suggested that the arrival of Mohamed Salah at Anfield is bad news for Mane.
But is that true? What seems far likelier is that Salah and Mane will play on opposite flanks for the Reds, while Roberto Firmino will be the striker, supported by Philippe Coutinho.
It’s also worth nothing that 25-year-old Mane is under contract at Liverpool until 2021.
Arsenal & Spurs targets
Gazzetta also reveal other Inter targets should Perisic leave the San Siro.
It’s claimed Inter’s “real dream” is to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal. GdS however don’t give this much hope of happening as “the Chilean seems to have chosen Man City”.
Other players linked to Inter include Tottenham’s Erik Lamela, Marseille’s Florian Thauvin and PSG’s Angel Di Maria.
