Nigeria have secured a spot in 2018 Africa Nations Championship in Kenya following a 2-0 bashing of Benin Republic 2-0 in Kano.
Nigeria qualified on a 2-1 goal aggregate having lost to Benin Republic 1-0 in Cotonou.
Rabiu Ali open the scoreline for CHAN Eagles in the 22nd minutes before Kingsley Eduwo doubled the lead for The Nigerians, two minutes after the second half.
However, goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa stole the show with an emphatic penalty save following a hand ball in the box by Emmanuel Ariwachukwu.
CHAN Eagles meticulously held on to their lead to book their place in the Africa Nations Championship which will be hosted by Kenya.
The Total 2018 African Nations Championship qualification is a men’s football competition which decided the participating teams of the 2018 African Nations Championship. Only national team players who are playing in their country’s own domestic league are eligible to compete in the tournament.
A total of 16 teams will qualify to play in the final tournament, including Kenya who qualified automatically as hosts.
