Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has revealed that he expects striker Kelechi Iheanacho to leave the Etihad within the coming days.
Iheanacho, 20, has been heavily linked with a move to Premier League rivals Leicester City – the former Barcelona mentor has stated that a deal with the Foxes was edging ever closer.
« I think Kelechi leaves us in favour of Leicester, » Guardiola is quoted as saying by the Manchester Evening News.
« I think so, but I do not want to say anything wrong either. We will see. If that does not happen, he will be part of the group. »
Moreover, Leicester City mentor Craig Shakespeare is hopeful that their pursuit of the Nigeria international forward will be completed, but admitted that all clubs were finding it difficult to complete deals:
« I’m hoping so, but I am like every other manager at the moment. I think we all find it frustrating but it is the current market, » he said.
« At the moment, of course, we are interested in players as most of the Premier League is, but you can see that clubs won’t really talk about it until they are over the line. »
According to reports, Iheanacho’s price tag could rise as high as £25 million. The former Taye Academy Owerri player as scored 21 goals in 64 games for the Sky Blues.
