Ferdinand Urges Mourinho To Buy R3.1bn Star Duo

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has urged Jose Mourinho to chase these two superstars, even if they would cost the club R3.1 billion.

The retired defender, who now works as a pundit, has insisted his former club has enough money to buy both Antoine Griezmann and Gareth Bale.

« Manchester United have got the money, I’d go get both, » Ferdinand told Squawka.

« They’re great players but I don’t think they’re comparable to be honest. They’re different players.

« Gareth could play anywhere across the frontline. He’d be effective anywhere – from the right to the left, central.

« Griezmann obviously (would play) as the number nine, but right now might be too early. Ibrahimovic is banging in goals.

« If they became available, United have to be in that. »

Griezmann has long been linked with United, with reports suggesting the £86 million (R1.4 billion) Frenchman is Mourinho’s main target for next season.

The Red Devils also went after Bale a few years back but the Welshman opted to join Real instead.

However, reports suggest that Los Blancos could be tempted to sell the injury-prone forward if they receive an offer worth £100 million (R1.7 billion).
