The Argentian winger has been ruled out of Paris Saint-Germain’s upcoming Champions League clash, whilst Thiago Silva is a doubt, providing the Scottish champions with a boost as they are set to welcome PSG to Glasgow next week.
Both Angel Di Maria and Thiago Silva picked up knocks whilst on international and they could miss out for the Group B curtain raiser as the French big-spenders travel to Hampden Park on Tuesday
Former Man United star Di Maria tore his thigh during Argentina’s disappointing 1-1 draw with Venezuela and could be ruled out for at least a month, which will be confirmed by PSG medics once the player undergoes some tests after he arrives back in Europe.
The Brazilian centre-back Thiago Silva also picked up a knock against Colombia and will be assessed ahead of PSG’s league match against Metz on Friday.
PSG also had their players Neymar, Marquinhos and Dani Alves representing Brazil but luckily they came through unharmed.
However, the loss of two key players in Silva and Di Maria will undoubtedly be a blow for Unai Emery’s side and Brendan Rodgers will hope this can work in his side’s favour.
