City Trialist To Be Tested Against Pirates

Cape Town City are set to face Orlando Pirates in a friendly encounter on Thursday, just weeks before the two sides meet in the Absa Premiership.

The Cape Town-based club will be travelling to Johannesburg on a mid-season camp, where they will continue with preparations for the upcoming second-half of the 2016/17 season.

It has been confirmed that the club’s Mozambican trialist, Edmilson Dove, will be travelling with the squad, however, the club is yet to make a decision about whether or not he will be added to their set-up in the coming weeks.

The joint log-leaders will leave the Mother City on Thursday morning, January 26, and will immediately gear up to face the Soweto giants that same evening in Johannesburg.

Thereafter, Eric Tinkler’s side will face Bidvest Wits on Saturday, meeting in a friendly encounter after City’s 3-2 victory over the Clever Boys in the Absa Premiership earlier in December.

City have come up against Wits three times competitively this season, and have only played Pirates once in the Absa Premiership so far.

League action will resume next month, and Tinkler’s side will get the second-half of their campaign underway when they host Highlands Park at the Cape Town Stadium on February 7.
