Shakes Mashaba’s side underwent their first full training session in Polokwane today after the last few players in his squad arrived last night.
The bulk of the Bafana Bafana squad jetted out from Johannesburg to Limpopo on Monday morning, however, a number of them only arrived on Tuesday for various reasons.
Lars Veldwijk was one of the players late to arrive due to some final arrangements with regards to his visa, but the Dutchman had his first session with his new teammates after receiving his debut call-up to the South African side last month and will be looking to make a mark on Mashaba over the next few days.
Kaizer Chiefs’ Itumeleng Khune, Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Erick Mathoho also arrived yesterday evening due to them arriving back in Gauteng late after their Telkom Knockout game, while SuperSport United’s Ronwen Williams joined them on yesterday’s flight to Polokwane.
Meanwhile, the final two overseas-based players, Ayanda Patosi and May Mahlangu, have also arrived after flying in from Europe together.
Bafana have double sessions today and tomorrow (10am & 4pm), before single sessions on Thursday and Friday ahead of this weekend’s clash at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
The game, which is part of South Africa’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, is set to get underway at 15h00 on Saturday afternoon.
